Todd Ireland

Meet Commissioner Todd Ireland

County Commissioner Todd Ireland took office in December 2022 as an at-large representative on the Calvert County, Maryland, Board of County Commissioners. He is serving his first term.

Ireland served as a Calvert County Sheriff’s Deputy for nearly 29 years, retiring as a captain in December 2021. He had a rewarding law enforcement career, receiving numerous awards and recognitions. He has also worked on the water his entire life, fishing and crabbing on the Chesapeake Bay and Patuxent River.

Ireland is a lifelong Calvert County resident, whose family history is deeply entrenched in the county. Many of his ancestors were watermen and farmers. He resides on his family’s farm in Huntingtown, a longstanding tobacco farm that is now in a conservation program. When he is not working on the water, Ireland can be found working around the family farm or in his shop with his father and two sons.
