2. Calvert County Economic Development is here to help introduce your business to our community with a ribbon cutting celebration. This is a FREE benefit to our business community. 

   Once your date is confirmed, we will share your event on our Calvert County Government Facebook and LinkedIn pages, place it on the Economic Development events calendar and invite the Calvert County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) and other resource partners to help support you at your ribbon cutting. We will also provide a red ribbon, certificate and large scissors for your event. Ribbon cuttings are scheduled Monday - Friday only from 10:00 a.m. -  4:00 p.m. The best day and time for a member of the BOCC to attend is Tuesday between 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. We will make every effort to get a number of resource partners, Economic Development staff and local officials to your event; however, we cannot guarantee attendance. If you prefer to not have ambassadors/BOCC there, please let us know.

   Some businesses like to host food for the ribbon-cutting guests (coffee and doughnuts in the morning, light appetizers and water in the afternoon). This is NOT required, but it is a nice touch and is at your discretion. You may also want to schedule a brief tour of your facility or orientation about your business. Some members like to have small gifts or prizes to give out. Again, this is at your discretion and not required.

   Please note, businesses must: 

   • Be in good standing with the state of Maryland. 
     • You can check this online at https://egov.maryland.gov/businessexpress/entitysearch at the time of submission to be eligible.
   • Have no opening zoning violations at the time of submission to be eligible.
   • Submit the ribbon-cutting request form at least three weeks before the preferred date.
   • Ribbon cutting requests for home-based businesses will be accommodated on a case-by-case basis.
