Business Appreciation Week

Business Appreciation Week (BAW) is an opportunity to increase public awareness about the positive impact businesses have on the local economy and the county’s commitment to assisting them in their success, especially during difficult circumstances. BAW launched in 2006 and continues to be celebrated the first full week in May.

Previous BAW events have included workshops, roundtable discussions, pitch competitions, and other business-focused opportunities. While the schedule of events varies, the signature occasion is the site visit program, which is supported by the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). During the site visits, a team of ambassadors comprised of the BOCC, department heads, resource partners and Economic Development staff visit businesses based on an annual theme. The site visits provide a forum for business owners to provide feedback about government support services and an opportunity to enhance knowledge about county companies and express appreciation for their contributions to the economy.

BAW is an integral part of the department’s business retention program. Information on the 2023 Business Appreciation Week activities will be forthcoming. To be one of the first to receive the schedule of events, sign up for our Business Matters newsletter
