    CalvART is a cooperative gallery located in Prince Frederick, MD, and affiliated with the Arts Council of Calvert County. calvART is a showcase for artists from Southern Maryland and highlights work from a wide range of styles and media. Our artists excel in paintings, pottery, jewerly, sculpture, woodturning and photography. calvART highlights artwork by the Southern Maryland community and partners with community groups and organizations for its shows. You are always welcome to browse, and spend a part of the day looking at our artwork and meeting the artists. Consider joining us at our monthly receptions and special events. Reception: September 14th 5-8 pm.

    The Shaping of America: a painter's perspective September 27 - October 26, 2019. Main Gallery Join us for an art exhibition featuring the paintings of ten women artists who see and experience the genre of landscape painting in uniquely different ways. Inspired by the written word of American geographer D.W. Meinig, the exhibition highlights how each painting embodies the idea of "landscape" as experienced through the hand of the artist and the eye of the viewer. Your idea of what "American Landscape" is will twist and turn with each layer of painted material.   4. Homeschool Day at JPPM

    This year we will be exploring the lives of the native people who lived along the Chesapeake Bay through the lens of experimental archaeology. Experimental archaeology is a discipline that applies the principles of physical science to understanding how ancient technology worked. Come visit the Woodland Indian Village and learn why wigwams make great houses, understand how geology affects arrowheads, turn rocks into paint, and more! ?

  5. Pirate Day!

    September 27, 2019, 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM @ Calvert Marine Museum

    Throw on your best pirate outfit and head to the museum for pirate-themed adventures! Learn to talk like a pirate and sing sea chanteys at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. Ongoing fun includes getting a pirate tattoo, making pirate crafts, learning to tie knots, and walking the plank!

  6. Friday Night Farmers' Market, Classic Car Cruise-In & Art Fair

    September 27, 2019, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM @ The Town of North Beach

    This weekly market offers seasonal delights from local farms including, fresh, flavorful fruits and vegetables, fresh herbs, cheese, meat, seafood, fresh-baked goods, cut flowers, and bedding plants. You can sample the wines from our very own Calvert County wineries and purchase by the glass or bottle. Classic car enthusiasts can enjoy viewing some of the coolest vehicles in the area at the Classic Car Cruise-In. The Friday Night Art Fair also will be taking place on Bay Avenue ( between 5th and 7th street) and is open to all artists who locally design, make and sell art. The vision of the NB Art Fair is the promote locally design art and produce creative and unique art. The Art Fair's program helps community-cased artist and art organizations make locally produced art available tot he community residents and visitors. Stop by and find some art work.

  7. Maritime Performance Series: Bumper Jacksons

    Calvert Marine Museum proudly presents the 2019 Fall Maritime Performance Series! Bumper Jacksons paint America’s story from the streets of New Orleans to Appalachian hollers. Unafraid to scrap together new sounds from forgotten 78s, Bumper Jacksons elegantly balance paying homage to the traditions while fashioning their own unique, playful style. The group began as a duo, and in five short years, grew to a brassy six-piece band with horns and pedal steel. They’ve been honored multiple times as the Mid-Atlantic’s “Artist of the Year” and “Best Traditional Band” at the Washington Area Music Awards. Bumper Jacksons bring you into the center of a party where everyone’s invited and the dance floor never sleeps. This performance is supported by the Maryland Arts Council Touring Program.
