    Date: Apr 26 2019 - Sep 22 2019 Gallery: Kay Daugherty Gallery Join us as we explore the wide realm of folk art, outsider art, and visionary art - and other artistic expressions that are often situated outside the world of mainstream fine arts. This exhibit will highlight the unconventional, the authentic, and the self-taught artists. What materials and perspectives are artists exploring? How are artists blurring the lines between fine and folk, maintstream and outsider? What cultural traditions, personal histories, or social commentaries inspire their work? What identities and issues are finding a voice? How does this work challenge our ideas and address the human condition? These and other ideas and expressions will find a home in this exciting new exhibit.

  2. Art Show: Trash To Treasure at CalvART Gallery

    CalvART is a cooperative gallery located in Prince Frederick, MD, and affiliated with the Arts Council of Calvert County. calvART is a showcase for artists from Southern Maryland and highlights work from a wide range of styles and media. Our artists excel in paintings, pottery, jewerly, sculpture, woodturning and photography. calvART highlights artwork by the Southern Maryland community and partners with community groups and organizations for its shows. You are always welcome to browse, and spend a part of the day looking at our artwork and meeting the artists. Consider joining us at our monthly receptions and special events. Reception: July 13th 5-8:00 pm.

  3. Free Mac Lab Tours

    August 2, 2019, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM @ Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum (JPPM)

    Enjoy a free behind the scenes tour of the Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory, a state-of-the-art facility that houses over 8 million artifacts, including collections from every county in Maryland. The “Behind the Scenes” guided tour allows visitors to get up close and personal with our conservators and our collections. Reservations are not required. However, large groups need to make other tour arrangements, and may be charged a fee.

  4. OpPAX- Mini-Rolling Thunder motorcade and Night Of Remberance and Music

    August 2, 2019, 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM @ Solomons Island

    The 75th anniversary of the Normandy invasion which is connected to our local area because of WWII sites, Naval Air Station Patuxent River (NAS-Pax) and Solomons Island. To commemorate it, Operation Patuxent (OpPAX) mini-Rolling Thunder tribute motorcade and night of remembrance and music. The motorcade will form at 5 p.m. across from Naval Air Station Patuxent River (NAS-Pax) Gate 2, Lexington Park. The public is invited to line the parade route along Route 235 until the turn for the bridge to Solomons or to greet the motorcade at the pavilion in Solomons. SPAMtime T/5 Vince “SPAM” Turner and PFC Vincent “Bubba” Turner will reenact a 1942 radio broadcast of music from the WWII era at the Solomons Gazebo. There will be a solemn wreath laying and other commemorative activities to honor all who have died in the service of our country.

  5. Friday Night Farmers' Market, Classic Car Cruise-In & Art Fair

    August 2, 2019, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM @ The Town of North Beach

    This weekly market offers seasonal delights from local farms including, fresh, flavorful fruits and vegetables, fresh herbs, cheese, meat, seafood, fresh-baked goods, cut flowers, and bedding plants. You can sample the wines from our very own Calvert County wineries and purchase by the glass or bottle. Classic car enthusiasts can enjoy viewing some of the coolest vehicles in the area at the Classic Car Cruise-In. The Friday Night Art Fair also will be taking place on Bay Avenue ( between 5th and 7th street) and is open to all artists who locally design, make and sell art. The vision of the NB Art Fair is the promote locally design art and produce creative and unique art. The Art Fair's program helps community-cased artist and art organizations make locally produced art available tot he community residents and visitors. Stop by and find some art work.

    Twin Beach Players Youth Troupe presents our Kids Playwriting Festival 14 Six original winning short plays written and performed by the youth of Maryland ages 6-18. Each play was judged by a panel of professional writers and actors.   7. Gavin DeGraw featuring the Spin Doctors

    August 2, 2019, 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM @ Calvert Marine Museum

    Multi-platinum selling singer, performer, and songwriter Gavin DeGraw will perform with the Spin Doctors at the Calvert Marine Museum’s PNC Waterside Pavilion on Friday, August 2. DeGraw first broke through with the 2003 release of his debut album, Chariot, which sold over 1 million copies, earned platinum certification, and yielded three smash singles: "I Don’t Want To Be", "Follow Through", and the title-track, "Chariot". Later albums in 2008 and 2011 gave fans hits such as "In Love With A Girl", "Not Over You", and "Best I Ever Had". Since then, DeGraw has been consistently touring around the world. Iconic blues-rock band the Spin Doctors helped define the early 90s rock scene. The band is best known for hits “Two Princes”, “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong”, and “Jimmy Olsen’s Blues” from their Pocket Full of Kryptonite album. Thirty years later, the Spin Doctors are still making music and delighting legions of fans while on tour across North America.
